A Toy Story Birthday - Jumping Monkeys

This project was part of a series of ideas for my niece's Toy Story birthday party. To see my original ideas and how they turned out, Click Here.

This one was extremely easy to do. The idea was simple enough, create a garland using jumbo sized jumping monkeys. I got the inspiration from The Photographers Wife.

  • Heavy Weight Red Cardstock. I used 110lb Cardstock from Michaels. I waited for them to be on sale, plus I had a 25% off everything including Sale Items coupon.
  • Cricut Machine or equivalent.

The template was simple to find. I used this one from TheCraftChop.com

Once you have your template, upload it to the Cricut Design Space. Increase the size of the Monkey. To fit two on a page, make the size the biggest you can while fitting 2 on a page. If you don't utilize this space, you probably will be wasting quite a bit of paper (and money).

I made it work this way:

I originally thought I would need to figure out a way to attach the monkeys together. I was considering fishing line or a very fine thread, perhaps double sided tape. Fortunately the template above is pretty much a replica of the real Jumping Moneys toy. Because of that, they attached to one another as simply as the toys to. No need for wire or tape.
